Social media gives you access to a world where you can make amazing connections with like-minded women with similar interests as yours. When I first had my sisterlocks installed, I turned to Instagram to find my tribe of other locked natural women. Since then I have learned many tips on sisterlock maintenance, discovered hairstyle inspiration, and have made many friends with sisterlocks.
In this post, I’m going to share with you my 20 favorite naturals with sisterlocks you can find on Instagram.

ToggleWhat are sisterlocks?
First, let’s talk about sisterlocks. So what are they? Sisterlocks are a low maintenance natural hairstyle that is becoming more and more popular now days as women move away from the high-maintenance routine that comes with wearing loose natural hairstyles. Sisterlocks are very small-sized locs that are often mistaken for braids or even micro locs. They are installed and maintained by a sisterlock consultant using an interlocking method and a special sisterlocks tool. The main thing that differentiates sisterlocks from traditional locs is the sisterlocks grid and their small size.
Why Finding Your Tribe Matters
One of the greatest things about the sisterlock community is that there are so many gorgeous sets of locks out there. They are unique and come in all different colors, lengths, thicknesses, etc. Not only is it important to love and embrace YOUR own locs, but it’s also important to follow and connect with other sisterlock sistas in the community.
Why? Because having sisterlocks is a journey, and just like any other journey, there will be some things you’ve never experienced before. When you connect and build community with other sisterlocked sistas, you’ll be able to learn tips, get hair inspo, and get support and encouragement. You may even form new friendships that can turn into becoming virtual besties or even business partners. There’s so much value in building your network and connecting simply over having sisterlocks.
You certainly do not have to go on the sisterlock journey alone. There’s a beautiful community available for you to connect with via Instagram, YouTube, Clubhouse, Tik Tok, Pinterest, Facebook, etc. We are everywhere. Tap into the community and let’s celebrate hair freedom together.
Even if you fall into one of these categories below, you can still start following and connecting with other sisterlock sistas.

Who Do I Connect With First?
It’s easy to get lost in the scroll using social media. You may be wondering, where do I find natural sisterlocks sistas to follow? Who do I connect with first? When I first got my sisterlocks, I didn’t know who to connect with at first either. I started using different sisterlock hashtags on Instagram and have found tons of sisterlock sistas who have been my daily inspiration and have kept me going on this journey for the past four years.
Another great place to connect with sisterlock sistas is on the Clubhouse audio app. In the Sisterlocks Speak Club on Clubhouse we talk about all things sisterlocks every other Saturday at 1:00pm est. Are You Considering Sisterlocks?
If you are considering sisterlocks for a beautiful, easy, natural hairstyle please take into consideration the cost of getting sisterlocks installed and finding the right consultant. Sisterlocks can be costly but the investment is absolutely worth it for healthy, long, natural hair that gives you the freedom and flexibility to wake up, shake your hair, and go live your best life without the hassle.
How do I find A Sisterlocks consultant/trainee Near Me?
It is recommended to schedule an in-person consultation with a sisterlocks professional before going through with an installation. Many stylists will say they can do sisterlocks, BUT look for a certified consultant or a trainee. To locate a consultant/trainee in your area, go to the Sisterlocks website and select the “Finding a Consultant” option on the menu. You will then see a list of certified consultants/trainees and their contact information. If you are unable to find a consultant/trainee near you, then shoot me a message and I can put you in contact with one.
If you are wondering what to look for in your next consultant/trainee, how you can connect with more sisterlock sistas, or you need more tips on how to take care of your sisterlocks, then you’ll definitely want to check out my Free Guide here.
Now that you know some basics about sisterlocks, I hope to welcome you into the sisterlock community. If you aren’t ready to take the plunge, you are still welcomed with open arms to be apart of our community.
