ToggleHow to Prepare Banana Foster Brioche French Toast
Banana Foster Brioche French Toast is one of the best breakfast recipes you will ever make. You just need a few simple ingredients to make this perfect French toast.
What You Will Need
Brioche French Toast
- Brioche Bread Loaf – I like to use the Cinnamon Euro Classic Authentic Brioche Loaf at Wegmans. But since there are no Wegmans in Indiana, I’ve found a really great alternative at Whole Foods, their Braided Brioche Loaf. The Whole Foods braided brioche loaf does not already have cinnamon in it, so you have to add cinnamon to it yourself when cooking it. Both loaf options can be found in the bakery section of these stores.
- Milk – I like to use almond milk, but you can also use whole milk or any other milk of your choice.
- Eggs
- Butter
- Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Ground Cinnamon – Sprinkle enough to cover each side of the bread.
Banana Foster Topping
Bourbon – You can choose whichever bourbon you like. I used Maker’s Mark and it worked perfectly with the banana foster. If you don’t have bourbon, you can also use rum as an alternative.
Bananas – Try to find bananas that have just a few tiny brown spots on them. You don’t want the bananas to be too hard or too soft.
Brown Sugar
Vanilla Extract
Butter
Salt – Just a pinch, don’t get heavy handed.
Pecans – I like to use the crushed pecans on top of the banana foster topping.
Powdered Sugar (Optional) – Use a sifter to sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar on top after adding the banana foster topping to the brioche french toast.
How Long it Takes to Make Banana Foster Brioche French Toast
It takes me about 15 minutes to prepare the bread, the mixture, and heat the pan up. Then it takes about 20 minutes to cook the sliced brioche bread and plate it on the serving tray. The end result is worth every second of your time!
Tips for Making The Banana Foster Brioche Bread
- When it comes to the heat while cooking the bread in the pan, it is better to go too low than too high. If you are too high then you can risk burning the bread and then it won’t look as pretty as it should. You want both sides of the bread to have a golden brown look.
- Try limiting the pan to 3 slices of bread while cooking. Don’t overload the pan and crowd it with too many slices at once. They all won’t get cooked the same.
- Take a shot of that bourbon before you start cooking this french toast to set the vibes.
Serving and Enjoying
After preparing the brioche french toast, place it on a serving platter. Add the banana foster topping to it and then top it off with sifted powdered sugar (optional). You can also add blueberries or strawberries around the platter for extra presentation (optional)
Banana Foster Brioche French Toast is a delicious meal to enjoy with your friends and family. It’s easy to make and tastes great. It’s best served with coffee, fresh orange juice, and fresh fruit. Or you can make it a whole meal and add eggs, bacon, and potatoes for a more filling meal.
